For years, I felt like I was carrying the weight of the world in my body—literally. The emotional overwhelm, the random physical aches that didn’t seem to “belong” to me, the burnout from living in a world that didn’t understand sensitivity—it all led me to a deeper truth:
I’m an empath. A Highly Sensitive Person. A clairsentient healer.

But getting there? That journey took time, one soul-level lesson at a time.


The Moment Everything Shifted

Back in the early 2000s, my friend Diane told me, “The sensations you’re feeling might not be yours.” I laughed out loud. How could pain in my body possibly belong to someone else?

It wasn’t until 2010—when I met Eric’s Mambo, a retired racehorse who would become my mentor, mirror, and soul teacher—that I truly understood.

During a session when Diane was doing bodywork on Eric, I felt a sharp pain in my back—at the exact moment she was working to release tension in his. That was the first time I knew I could physically feel what others were holding, even if they weren’t saying it out loud. That day opened the door to a deeper self-understanding—and a greater calling.

We visited horses I’d never met, and I accurately sensed their discomforts with over 90% accuracy. It clicked. I wasn’t imagining things. I wasn’t broken. I was built for this.


What the Science Says

Up to 20% of the population is considered highly sensitive—a biologically-based trait called Sensory Processing Sensitivity, researched by Dr. Elaine Aron. It means we process information more deeply, feel emotions intensely, and are more easily overstimulated by noise, energy, and crowds. It’s not a disorder. It’s a trait—and when embraced, it can become a powerful gift.

The Birth of a Safe Space

In 2018, after being laid off from a high-stress corporate job, I found myself at a Mexican restaurant with a friend, talking about the need for a safe, sacred space to practice Reiki. In that quiet moment, inspiration struck. “Why don’t I create that space?” I asked.

One year later, I opened The Violet Butterfly Metaphysical Healing Center in Palm Harbor, Florida—a cozy, welcoming space for intuitive development, healing, and spiritual growth. It was built on four core values:

  1. Flexibility

  2. Comfort—like visiting a trusted friend

  3. Safety to explore your spiritual path

  4. Ongoing learning and growth

Over time, I realized that as a Highly Sensitive Person, I was attracting other highly sensitive people. I wasn’t just holding space—I was creating it for those who, like me, needed support navigating life with open hearts and tender nervous systems.


Resilient Sensitive Was Born from That Evolution

The Violet Butterfly was my chrysalis. Resilient Sensitive is my wings.
