A Body Scan Practice for Sensitive Souls
July 16, 2025Hey love,
Have you been feeling it lately?
That low-grade buzz of anxiety… the emotional static… the weight of everything?
You’re not alone.
The world feels loud right now—in every way.
Loud with opinions. Loud with urgency. Loud with discomfort.
Even if you’re doing your best to stay grounded, that energy seeps in. And for those of us who feel deeply—who sense more than we can explain—it’s overwhelming.
There’s no shame in that.
This isn’t about being fragile or broken.
This is about being a sensitive soul in a world that rarely slows down.
When the outside world gets loud, the answer isn’t to push harder.
It’s to come home to yourself.
💫 What It Means to “Come Home to Yourself”
Coming home to yourself means softening back into your own energy.
It’s about reconnecting with your body, breath, and inner truth.
It’s remembering that rest is not a luxury—it’s a requirement.
This isn’t about self-care routines or wellness trends.
It’s a sacred return.
A quiet shift from the external to the internal.
🌎 Why It’s So Hard Right Now
We’re all feeling the heaviness of the world.
Globally, collectively, energetically—there’s a lot moving.
And if you are sensitive, you’re likely absorbing more than your fair share. You might be feeling emotions that aren’t even yours. You may feel off, even if you can’t name why.
That’s okay.
When the world feels uncertain, many of us go into hyper-awareness mode.
We over-give. We shut down. We try to fix. We try to hold it all.
But you don’t have to carry everything.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
🌬️ 5 Gentle Ways to Come Home to Yourself
These practices are simple—but deeply effective for sensitive nervous systems.
1. Touch the Earth
Stand barefoot in grass, hold a grounding crystal like black tourmaline, or place your hands on a tree. Let nature remind your body what it means to be supported. We have several wonderful parts near me in Pinellas County, FL that I frequent often, to find my balance.
2. Turn Down the Volume
Reduce sensory input. Dim the lights, silence notifications, and limit your social media time. Your nervous system needs less stimulation to reset. Try turning your favorite music to a low setting, you still get the benefits of its supportive vibrations.
3. Try a Centering Breath
Use this simple breath to return to yourself:
Inhale through your nose for 4 counts
Hold for 4
Exhale through your mouth for 6
Repeat for 1–2 minutes
4. Ask Yourself: “Is This Mine?”
Not everything you’re feeling is yours.
Say aloud: “I release what isn’t mine.”
You might be surprised by how much lighter you feel.
5. Hand to Heart
Place your hand on your heart, close your eyes, and simply say, I’m here.
This simple act can bring you back into presence within seconds.
🌿 Final Thoughts: You Deserve to Come Home
You don’t have to do more.
You don’t have to figure it all out.
You just have to come home to yourself—again and again.
And when you do, your body, your energy, and your heart will thank you.
With love + stillness,
Michele
