How to Choose the Right Altar Cloth for You
May 3, 2023t’s been a wild time, and my anxiety levels are high! I’ve noticed I startle easily (right along with my cat Daisy Grace), my heart rate is elevated, I struggle to focus, and my stomach is full of butterflies. For me, anxiety feels like an avalanche, and once it breaks free, the momentum takes out everything in its path.
That feels heavy, right? I own a spiritual business, I coach people almost every day on self-awareness, I provide suggestions on tools to help manage some aspect of their life, and yet my anxiety feels out of control. This just reinforces that I am human.
I’ve also noticed other patterns. When I watch certain shows or movies, I become overstimulated, and my anxiety increases. If I am on my phone too much with social media or playing games, I become ungrounded, and my anxiety increases. When I think (or worry) about my damaged roof and when it will get fixed, my anxiety increases A LOT. Now that I’ve noticed these things, I try to avoid them. If you can identify activities that increase your anxiety – don’t do them.
What Tools Do I Use to Help Me Cope?
- Work in the Shop: When I interact with and help customers, it ensures I am present – here in the moment.
- Practice Mindfulness and Meditation: For me, this is a hard one. When I already feel this off, the thought of sitting and being quiet doesn’t work for me right now – but it might for you.
- Go to the Gym: Working out helps me stay more balanced overall and aids in stress management. Yoga is another amazing option.
- Have a Reiki Session (or Give One): Reiki is a universal life force that has a wisdom of its own and flows to where it is needed the most. When you give Reiki, you get Reiki – so it’s a win-win situation.
- Work with Crystals: I love, love, love my crystals and work with them daily. Lie down comfortably and try this combo:
- Blue Lace Agate in your non-dominant hand to help calm, soothe, and center.
- Smoky Quartz in your dominant hand to release excessive energy and relieve stress.
- Lithium Quartz on your heart center to reduce feelings of anxiety.
- Angelite on your third eye to help calm your mind.
- Use Essential Oils: I’m a fan of doTerra Essential Oils, but use what you like and are comfortable with. A few of my favorite oils and blends that help me include Lavender, Adaptiv, Serenity, and Calmer. These oils work to soothe and promote relaxation. They can help steady and balance the mind and emotions, and prepare us for a good night’s rest.
